Lean training

The training process has several phases during implementing lean: understanding the basics of lean thinking is only the first step for employees to be able to use their knowledge in their daily work.

„There is no such a thing as a bad student, only a bad teacher”

The first phase is that our employees understand the thinking itself, the results it can bring, and what to do to achieve those results. On this level we have to gain people’s openness, and that they accept that results can be driven through other methods than they are used to. On this level it is not necessary for everyone to know all the tools and their application methods. We just have to open their eyes, that they are able to see the types of wastes. This is the first step on the way of improvements.

The next level can be when the structured sequence of Kaizen events start, defined during the future state design of a prior process analysis. At this phase employees need a deeper understanding of tools and methods, to take active part and to be involved. We must not forget that people are the greatest resources of lean improvements, taking their experience and knowledge in consideration that they gain during their everyday work.

The third phase is developing internal lean specialists. Lean thinking can really be part of our daily routine with their participation. This means a much higher responsibility though, so they need to have the most lean knowledge and skills. To be able to succeed in their job, they might also need some other skill development such as presentational, communicational trainings.

No matter which phase we are talking about, it is important that all trainings have to be interactive, so participants do not just listen to someone giving a lecture, but also become part of the process of sharing experiences and discussions around lean thinking. We also put high emphasis on participants understanding the tools in practice. Our simulations make it possible that the types of wastes are presented, experienced in a playful environment.
